SafeSurf1. The service
SafeSurf is a parental-control service that filters internet content on your family's devices using encrypted DNS, lets parents manage filtering and schedules, and shows recent activity. It is intended for parents and guardians managing devices used by their children. You must be 18 or older (or the age of majority where you live) to create a parent account.
2. Your account
- Keep your sign-in details secure; you are responsible for activity in your account.
- Only install SafeSurf on devices you own or are responsible for, and only manage children you are responsible for.
- Give us accurate details and keep them up to date.
- You can delete your account at any time in the app.
3. SafeSurf Silver and SafeSurf Gold subscriptions
- Plans: SafeSurf Silver covers one child and one device. SafeSurf Gold covers any number of children and up to 10 devices. Devices are your family's protected devices, children's devices and shared family devices together; your home network and co-parents don't count. One subscription covers every parent and co-parent in your family.
- Each plan is an auto-renewing subscription, monthly or annual, at the price shown in the App Store or Google Play before you buy.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google account when you confirm the purchase.
- Auto-renewal: the subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Free trial: new subscribers get a 7-day free trial where offered. If you don't cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the subscription starts and you are charged. Any unused part of a free trial ends when you buy a subscription.
- Changing plans: moving up to Gold takes effect immediately; moving to Silver takes effect at your next renewal. If your family has more children or devices than your plan covers, existing devices stay filtered, but you can't add more until you are within the plan or move up to Gold.
- Managing and cancelling: manage or cancel in your App Store or Google Play account settings, or through Manage subscription in the app. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel a subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies.
- When a subscription ends, the parent app stops allowing changes. Filtering on your children's devices continues for 14 days and then pauses until you subscribe again.
- Price changes are notified through the store, as the store requires.
- We may give some families free access at our discretion ("friends and family"); we may end it with reasonable notice.
4. What filtering can and can't do
SafeSurf blocks a large share of unwanted content, but no filter is perfect. Websites change constantly, some content can't be classified in time, and a determined user may find ways around filtering. SafeSurf supports, but does not replace, a parent's supervision.
5. Acceptable use
Don't use SafeSurf to monitor adults without their knowledge, break the law, interfere with the service or other users, or try to access systems or data you aren't authorised to.
6. Consumer guarantees and liability
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that can't be excluded. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our liability for a failure to provide the service is limited to supplying the service again or refunding the amount you paid for the period affected.
7. Changes and ending the service
We may update these terms; we'll show the new date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app or by email. We may suspend accounts that break these terms. You can stop using SafeSurf and delete your account at any time.
